IMC’s Market Update on Q4 Projections
In June, we shared our first market update with IMC customers, and conditions have kept evolving since then. Our goal is to give you a window into what we are seeing in landside logistics, as a resource to help you be prepared. Here is where things stand today.
What We’re Watching
High fuel costs, tightening capacity and changing freight demand continue to shape the drayage market. We’re monitoring these pressures closely so we can help you secure reliable capacity and keep your freight moving:
- Fuel Costs: Despite slight declines nationally, diesel remains a major operating cost. This is especially true in California, where costs are significantly higher. IMC continues to invest in our zero-emission fleet in the Pacific Region.
- Driver Availability: Changes to licensing and eligibility requirements are reducing the pool of qualified drivers.
- Capacity and Freight Demand: Capacity is leaving the market faster than freight demand is easing with the extended peak season.
- Expected Congestion in Southern California: The planned Vincent Thomas Bridge closure is expected to add pressure to port access and surrounding roads.

How We’re Working With You
None of this changes how we serve you. It sharpens our focus on the partnerships that built our business. In a tighter market, that means putting our capacity and our people behind the customers who are in it with us for the long term.
Thank you for your continued trust and partnership. If you have questions about what any of this means for your freight, please contact your IMC Logistics Representative. You can also reply to this message and we will connect you with the right member of our team.
