Congratulations Joel Tracy on 2026 CIO ORBIE Award Recognition

We’re excited to share some big news. IMC Logistics Chief Information Officer Joel Tracy has been named the 2026 National Large Corporate ORBIE Award winner, CIO of the Year, selected by his peers over technology executives from major companies across the country, based on leadership and the business value created through technology.

“This award is a very proud moment for all of us at IMC Logistics,” says IMC Chairman Mark H. George. “It says that we have built a technology organization that is being recognized nationally among the very best companies in America.”

There’s a story behind this award. For almost 45 years, IMC has invested in technology. We built our own Transportation Management System, developed in-house by people who know our business. This system gives us the ability to innovate on behalf of our customers. Most drayage providers run purchased software or licensed third-party visibility layers. IMC owns our TMS and backs it up with a team of 135 in house IT experts. When a customer asks for a data field, a report, or an EDI change, it’s an IMC solution created.

  • Always know where your freight is. From order receipt, while your container is still on the water, through arrival, delivery, documentation, and invoicing, our online customer TMS interface IMCompass shows you the whole journey in one place and integrates with the systems your team already uses.
  • Detention and Demurrage. Our team is focused on reducing your costs. Customers told us they need to know why detention and demurrage occurred, not just that it did – so this year we rolled out reason codes at the container level in IMCompass, available through EDI so the data flows straight into your systems. You see the cause and can act on the pattern instead of the invoice.
  • Hear about delays before they happen. Our technology spots changes as they develop, a vessel running behind, a shift at the rail, and flags them early enough for our team to step in and protect your delivery dates.
  • People focused on your freight, not paperwork. IMC’s people make the difference. Increasingly, AI is handling the routine work behind the scenes, freeing our team to watch your shipments, catch exceptions, and solve problems before they reach you.

And we’re not done. Later this year we’ll launch a major upgrade that moves IMCompass to a leg-based model. Instead of tracking an order as a single move, the system will track each leg separately — port pull, yard, delivery, empty return — which means more precise status and ETAs at every handoff, clearer visibility into exactly where dwell occurs, and better utilization of our own assets on multi-stop and transload freight. If you’d like to learn more about how IMC technology can support your supply chain, contact your sales representative or simply reply to this message and we will connect you with our team.
