Work Stoppage Concludes, Port Operations Resume

As of late yesterday afternoon, the International Long Shoremen Association and the United States Maritime Alliance have reached a tentative agreement to extend the Master Contract and are returning to work. IMC Logistics is relieved the two parties will resume operations at the ports, and our drivers will be able to begin serving our customers.

What We Know:

• The ILA released the following statement regarding the work stoppage: The International Longshoremen’s Association and the United States Maritime Alliance, Ltd. have reached a tentative agreement on wages and have agreed to extend the Master Contract until January 15, 2025 to return to the bargaining table to negotiate all other outstanding issues. Effective immediately, all current job actions will cease and all work covered by the Master Contract will resume.

Resuming Port Operations:

• Port reopening dates/times vary from port to port based on their own specific operations. Some have resumed operations as of this morning, while others will open at later points. To name a few, Houston resumed operations today at 1pm CST, Savannah and Charleston reopened this morning, the Norfolk Port is reopening this weekend and NYNJ Ports are reopening Monday. For specific reopening plans for ports affecting your cargo, please reach out to your IMC Operations Representative.

Beginning today, we expect increased driver wait times, limited port and rail appointments, and chassis shortages up and down the US East and Gulf Coasts.
