Driver Ken Johnson is with IMC for the Long Haul!
Meet IMC Logistics long-haul driver Ken Johnson, who has been with our Pacific Region for four years. Ken was recently recognized by the California Trucking Association as Driver of the Month and was a finalist for Driver of the Year. “I was shocked when they told me about the award,” says Ken. “I credit fellow drivers who mentored me and our support staff who help keep me safe and informed.”
Before starting his driving career, Ken spent 21 years in property management and storage. But trucking was his childhood dream. Once he got behind the wheel, he often saw IMC trucks on the road, and our clean, sharp-looking equipment made him think, “That’s where I want to be.” After gaining a year of experience, he wasted no time applying to IMC. As Ken says, “The rest is history.”
Ken drives an impressive 100,000 miles a year and is one of our safest drivers. In fact, it was his dedication to safety, meticulous trip planning and HOS adherance that made him an outstanding candidate for the award. Ken also takes pride in mentoring the next generation, paying forward the support he received. He especially likes IMC’s work-life balance that allows him to care for the people who matter most: his wife and their two daughters, now 18 and 20.
One of Ken’s proudest moments at IMC was being selected to drive the Nikola hydrogen-powered truck featured in our recent video. He also enjoyed giving rides to visitors during the Pacific Region’s sustainability open house. As for the future, Ken notes, “The sky’s the limit!”
Congratulations, Ken, on this well-earned recognition!
